Birthday Celebrations!

We have had a BUSY past week! However, it's been a lot of fun! Keri's mom came out for Matthew's birthday, and we had a great time visiting her. Matthew especially enjoyed being spoiled by her--imagine! Unfortunately, Matthew was actually sick on his birthday. He got the stomach flu and it carried over for about a day and a half. He was well enough for his party at the park. It rained most of the time though, so . . . that didn't last long either. These are just a few pictures from all of the events.


Matthew found my make-up and what a discovery it was! He painted his body with mascara. Ryan's idea of cleaning him up was to put him in the bathtub. Men don't realize that mascara only comes off with special eye make-up remover or baby oil. Luckily, we had a stash of cotton balls, and baby oil. It took a while with how much he caked on! Ryan and I were both laughing!!


Cheekers was so sweet with my mom. He kept putting his cheek next to hers to have her snuggle him and kiss him. It was priceless!

I stayed up until 1:30 a.m. the night before Matthew's birthday making this Thomas cake. Luckily, I had a friend to instruct me, because otherwise it would have been much later. I'm pleased since it was my first cake, although I did not have the energy to make another one for his party. So . . . cupcakes were much easier instead. No one cared. It still tasted the same with less frosting.
Matthew got ahold of the cake the day after his birthday. The next thing we know, he was feeding himself and David some frosting on the spatula--YIKES!



David loves to swing. He'll even fall asleep some times.

Matthew thought his birthday was so wonderful! Days before he kept telling anyone and everyone about his cake and presents for his birthday. When he saw the pile to open, life was very exciting and satisfying to this new-found three-year-old.

The funniest thing he did was when he opened Grandma Barbara's present. He was so excited about the CARS paper (she always has the cutest packaging and coordinates everything), but when he opened it, it's like he forgot what to do. He just tossed the box aside, and was thrilled to have opened something with special paper on it. We had to remind him to open the rest of the package. (The blanket is not really a t.v. blanket yet. He sleeps with it instead, along with his beloved "Binky".)
Matthew has a real aptitude for puzzles. He loves the challenge of trying different pieces and moving things around. He received multiple puzzles for his birthday, so it has been fun to watch him learn.




This is a classic story about David. I placed pieces of banana on his tray and suddenly, he took the banana from my hand. "Forget the pieces, I'll just shove the entire thing in my mouth." That's exactly what he did. Luckily, it was only half of a banana.

Matthew thought he looked so handsome in this outfit. It was pretty funny! (I forgot to rotate the picture in Studio. Oops!)

Yet another story of David's undying love for food. Matthew left a cookie out from the night before, so . . . when David got up, he methodically retrieved it from his corner hiding spot and stuffed as fast as he could.

We have a picture similar to this of Matthew around this same age. They are starting to look more alike to me.
