You have not had the best of times this past week. You went in for surgery for routine ear tubes on Wednesday, December 1st, but for whatever reason, you really struggled with this. Your body climbed to a temperature of 102 for two days and you became pretty listless. You breathed in shallow breaths, you refrained from crawling or moving of any sort, you clung to me or Dad, and you really started to worry us.
Dad called our home teacher, Brother Matt Zurek, on Thursday night to administer a Priesthood blessing to you. This means that they placed their hands on your head, having the proper authority via the Melchizedek Priesthood, annointed your head with consecrated oil, and then, sealed that blessing.
Your body was commanded to be healed. The fever was commanded to leave, and you were to be made whole.
No sooner than 12 hours later, you woke up fever free, hungry, and aching to jump, stand, pull on the Christmas tree, and bang pots and pans.
I know that the Priesthood is the power of God on the Earth--authority afforded to worthy men to act in the name of Jesus Christ--to heal or administer ordinances. It is sacred. It is real. Some day you will be able to hold that Priesthood and allow it to mold you. There is no doubt in my mind that the reason you recovered so quickly from your fever was because of the blessing you received. I testify of that to you, Ethan.
I love you.

Oh, thanks for making me cry this morning. What a neat thing to make note of for him and others to remember. Really amazing.
